What does the law say?

On this subject, the Brazilian Traffic Code does not specifically prohibit the motorcyclist from taking his dog on the motorcycle. In Spain, Article 18 of the General Circulation Regulation establishes the following :

The ways to take the animal

-Approved backpack

Can be used for small pets weighing up to 10 or 12 kilos.  It is possible to carry it on the back (less weight) or between the legs (up to 12 kilos). Backpacks are sold at pet stores. They must have the necessary ventilation so that the animal can breathe properly.

– Complement on the back

A firm carrying case can be fitted to the rear of the motorcycle. It is a good option for pets of greater weight and size, which do not fit in backpacks. It is important that it has ventilation and that it is padded, so as not to expose the animal to strong impacts.

– Sidecar

It is the best option for transporting larger and heavy animals. It is not recommended to transport animals that are not trained in a sidecar, as they can cause serious accidents.
